The Minnesota Youth Beef Experience Program (MYBEP) will be awarding eight (8) heifers this year. Any youth aged 12 to 16 who is a 4-H or FFA member may enter (previous winners of MYBEP heifers are ineligible to participate). The entry deadline is September 10, 2010. Each winner is responsible for raising, breeding and maintaining complete records on care of the animal while providing monthly progress reports to the original owner and the Minnesota Beef Expo. Failure to adequately follow these requirements during the course of the year when it is owned in partnership may cause the program participant to forfeit their ownership of the animal.
In 2009 we received 50 entries for the fifth year of the Minnesota Youth Beef Experience Program and awarded six (6) heifers to deserving youth. This overwhelming response is a tribute to youth who wish to pursue a future in the beef industry.
The purpose of this program is to aid youth in getting a start in the beef cattle business by awarding heifer calves to program participants on the basis of merit, need, future goals, and ability to care for the animal.
2010 DONORS
