Extreme Makeover: Beef Expo Style!

Got your fitting supplies? Check! Got a washed and dried heifer or steer? Check! Got a team of four youth between the ages of 9 to 21? Check! Youth teams were given 45 minutes to fit an animal for the show ring, followed by showmanship and interviews.
Each team had the opportunity to groom a heifer or steer for the show ring, demonstrate their fitting skills, showmanship skills and beef industry knowledge in a team environment – while competing for the coveted award as “2009 Beef Expo Extreme Make-over Champion Team.” Judging criteria included: ability to fit the animal, organization of supplies & equipment, participation of each member, beef industry knowledge and overall effectiveness of grooming. Hosted by the U of M Beef Team.
Eight teams were up to the challenge this year! Winners received a ribbon and set of Andis clippers. Judges included University of Minnesota Beef Team Members, Jackie Popowski, Val Ujazdowski, Ryon Walker, Grant Crawford, Chris Polzin, and Ryan Cox.
