The Minnesota Beef Expo provides a unique opportunity for cattlemen and cattlewomen to come together and exchange ideas. Past years have brought gentlemen like Dr. Cliff Lamb, Dr. Alfredo DiCostanzo, Dr. Dee Griffin and Dr. William Schmutz to the Expo to demonstrate emerging reproductive bio-technologies, emerging issues in beef quality assurance, mineral and trace mineral feeding or provide information on the feed basics of cow nutrition.
This year’s seminar:
Extreme Makeover: Beef Expo Style!
sponsored by the Minnesota Soybean Research
and Promotion Council
Team work and enhancing show ring performance of groomed cattle is the goal of this fun and interactive event at the 2009 MN Beef Expo. Teams made up of 4 youth will have the opportunity to groom a heifer or steer for the show ring, demonstrate team work and beef industry knowledge and compete for the coveted award as the “2009 Beef Expo Extreme Makeover Champion”. Teams will be judged on the ability to fit the animal, organization of the Team members, participation of each member, beef industry knowledge and overall effectiveness of grooming. Start organizing your Extreme Makeover Teams today. Hosted by the U of M Beef Team.
Nine teams from Minnesota and Wisconsin participated. Winners received a ribbon and set of Andis clippers. Judges included U of M Beef Team members Alfredo DiCostanzo, Ryan Walker and Grant Crawford, Ted Radintz from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and Chad Zehnder from Land O Lakes.
