Is there really a better way to learn about the beef industry then getting your hands dirty on your very own heifer? We don’t think so. That’s why the Minnesota Youth Beef Experience Program, commonly referred to as MYBEP, is one of the Expo programs that we are most proud of. Each year, cattle producers from across the region generously donate heifers to help young cattle enthusiasts get their feet wet in the beef business.

In 2015, we celebrated a huge milestone with our program's 100th heifer being awarded and in 2017, we are continuing the tradition and awarding 11 heifers to deserving youth! Not only are there a lot of MYBEP heifer genetics in the Midwest by now, there are also an impressive group of men and women who were positively impacted by MYBEP.

Each winner is responsible for raising, breeding and maintaining complete records on care of the animal while providing monthly progress reports to the original owner and the Minnesota Beef Expo.  The breeders who donated heifers will also serve as mentors to the MYBEP youth.  We want to send a special thank you to our donors. Meet the 2017 heifer donors here.

Do you think you could benefit from a MYBEP heifer? Read on to find more information about the program and how to apply in 2018. Meet the 2017 MYBEP Recipients here.
